Bradenton has had a hard few years. Helene passed offshore to the west in late September 2024 and made landfall well up the coast in the Big Bend, and it still drove surge onto this shoreline with its center never coming near us. Milton followed on October 9 and came ashore near Siesta Key, barely down the road, and that one arrived as wind. Ian came ashore south of here at Cayo Costa in September 2022. The pattern here is that the water and the wind go after different parts of town. The first calls sound the same every time. A laurel oak split at the crotch and half of it is on the lanai. A cabbage palm went into the pool cage. A pine came down across a driveway in Bayshore Gardens and nobody can get the car out. Those go first, because they are safety and access problems rather than cleanup. The First Hours After the Storm
Trees on structures come first. We get the weight off the house, make the area safe and get a tarp over the opening before the next rain band arrives. That order matters. Once the roof is open, water gets into the ceilings, the insulation and the drywall, and the repair bill grows every time it rains.
Once the house is secure we work outward. Leaners with lifted root plates, limbs hung up in the canopy, trees across driveways, fences and vehicles. We haul the debris and clean the site before we leave.

Storm damaged trees do not come apart the way healthy ones do. Trunks are split, limbs are loaded with tension, and root plates are half out of the ground. A cut in the wrong place puts the rest of the tree, and the crew, back on the house.
We own our equipment and we bring enough of it. An ISA Certified Arborist is on staff, so the plan for a compromised tree gets made by someone who reads the tree before anyone starts a saw.
Insurance, Billing and Paperwork
Many homeowners policies cover tree removal when a tree comes down on the main house or an outlying structure. Policies also tend to cap what they will pay toward removal, coverage varies by policy, and your carrier has the final say, so we will not promise you an outcome. What we can do is document the damage properly from the first hour.
We write the job up the way an adjuster needs to see it. Photos, measurements, clear line items and emergency mitigation recorded as mitigation. Complete paperwork will not change what your policy covers, but it does keep the claim moving.

Can you tarp my roof the same day you remove the tree?
Yes. Tarping is part of the emergency work, not a second trip. Getting the opening covered is what keeps a roof repair from turning into a whole interior repair.
How do I know you are not a storm chaser?
Ask for our insurance certificate and we will hand it to you. Florida does not issue a statewide tree service license, so proof of insurance and an ISA Certified Arborist on staff tell you more than a business card does. We are based in Venice, we have been at this 23 years, our trucks are lettered and our crew is in uniform. As a general rule, do not hand a large deposit to anyone who knocks on your door after a hurricane.
The tree is leaning but it has not fallen. Should I wait?
Get eyes on it now. A split trunk or a lifted root plate can let go in the next afternoon thunderstorm. Our arborist can tell you what has to come out and what can stay.
