Emergency Hurricane Tree Removal in Osprey

Milton came ashore at Siesta Key on 9 October 2024 as a Category 3, a few miles up the same barrier chain from Casey Key, and Osprey sat just south of the landfall point. That is the shape of the problem here. Casey Key has nothing in front of it at all, and the mainland lots at Southbay and along Blackburn Point Road get the open fetch straight across the Intracoastal behind it. The inland streets take the oaks instead. A live oak that has stood for decades usually does not snap, it tips, and the root plate lifts a slab of lawn and driveway with it. That is the call we get most in the days after a storm passes.

We answer 24 hours. When a limb is through a roof or a trunk is leaning on the house, the first job is making it safe and getting the weight off the structure before the next band of rain moves in. Casey Key is evacuation Zone A, which means it empties first and reopens last, so if the swing bridge at Blackburn Point is not open we stage on the mainland side and cross the moment it is.

Our crews have worked Charley, Matthew, Florence, Irma, Michael, Sally and Ida. They travel self sufficient with travel trailers, generators and fuel, so we are not sitting in the same fuel line as everyone else in Sarasota County trying to get back to work. The team has taken insurance billing courses and can document the damage the way an adjuster needs to see it. Text 941-445-3027.

After the storm in Osprey

The first 48 hours in a place like Osprey are about triage. Trees on houses come before trees on fences, and driveways that are blocking a family from getting out come before anything cosmetic. We tarp what we can reach, cut the load off the structure, and come back for the grinding and the cleanup once the whole street is safe.

Power lines are the part homeowners underestimate. If a limb is resting on the service drop between the pole at the street and your house, that is a utility call before it is a tree call. We will tell you straight when a job has to wait for the power company, and we will get everything else off the roof in the meantime.

  • Trees and limbs removed off roofs, lanais and pool cages
  • Emergency access clearing for blocked driveways and private lanes
  • Uprooted live oaks and the lifted root plates that come with them
  • Barrier island response for Casey Key once the crossing is open
  • Photo and measurement documentation for your insurance claim
  • Crews in uniform and lettered trucks, 24 hours a day

The First Hours After the Storm

Trees on structures come first. We get the weight off the house, make the area safe and get a tarp over the opening before the next rain band arrives. That order matters. Once the roof is open, water gets into the ceilings, the insulation and the drywall, and the repair bill grows every time it rains.

Once the house is secure we work outward. Leaners with lifted root plates, limbs hung up in the canopy, trees across driveways, fences and vehicles. We haul the debris and clean the site before we leave.

  • Trees lifted off roofs, garages, lanais and cars
  • Emergency tarping over roof openings
  • Driveway and access clearing so you can get out
  • Hazard removal for leaning and hung up trees
  • Debris hauled away and the property raked clean

Large and Dangerous Removals

Storm damaged trees do not come apart the way healthy ones do. Trunks are split, limbs are loaded with tension, and root plates are half out of the ground. A cut in the wrong place puts the rest of the tree, and the crew, back on the house.

We own our equipment and we bring enough of it. An ISA Certified Arborist is on staff, so the plan for a compromised tree gets made by someone who reads the tree before anyone starts a saw.

Insurance, Billing and Paperwork

Many homeowners policies cover tree removal when a tree comes down on the main house or an outlying structure. Policies also tend to cap what they will pay toward removal, coverage varies by policy, and your carrier has the final say, so we will not promise you an outcome. What we can do is document the damage properly from the first hour.

We write the job up the way an adjuster needs to see it. Photos, measurements, clear line items and emergency mitigation recorded as mitigation. Complete paperwork will not change what your policy covers, but it does keep the claim moving.

  • Photo and measurement documentation on site
  • Itemized invoices written so an adjuster can process them
  • Emergency tarping documented as mitigation work
  • Straight answers about what is likely covered

We Travel for Storm Work

Sarasota, Charlotte and Manatee counties are home, and we go well past them when a storm lands somewhere else. Our crews carry travel trailers, generators and their own fuel, so we are not competing for hotel rooms or waiting in line at a gas station with no power.

That is why we can get started early instead of waiting on hotel rooms, power or fuel to come back. We move as soon as the roads are open to us, and we can provide references from past storm work on request.

Why ACI

Why People Call Us After a Storm

Hurricanes bring out storm chasers. Unmarked trucks, no insurance, a big deposit up front and no intention of coming back. We have been based in Venice for 23 years, not just for this season. Repeat customers and referrals are how we stay busy, and we would rather keep it that way than make a quick dollar off somebody having the worst week of their life.

What Customers Say

4.9 stars from 142 Google reviews.

Adam and his team are thorough, straightforward, punctual and were amazing to deal with. I wish all companies had their same level of customer service. About a week after Hurricane Helene, and waiting for the first company to come back out and finish the job, Adam knew I was worried about Hurricane Milton causing more damage. Despite him and his crew also worrying about being in the direct path of Milton, they did an amazing job finishing the mess that the first company left. The crew answered my questions as they worked, explained the steps and were quick to finish the job. Despite the chaos of Helene and Milton, the sheer amount of jobs and destruction, and headache from the first company, Adam and his crew put me at complete ease and comfort. Thank you.

Questions We Get Asked

Will my homeowners insurance pay for this?

Often yes, especially when a tree lands on the main house or an outlying structure. Policies usually cap what they pay toward removal, every policy is different, and your carrier makes the call, so we never promise coverage. We do document everything and bill in a way an adjuster can process.

How fast can you get here?

We answer 24 hours a day and we move as soon as it is safe to be on the road. Trees on houses and blocked access get worked first. Text 941-445-3027 with your address and a photo if you can. That is the fastest way to get on the list.

Can you tarp my roof the same day you remove the tree?

Yes. Tarping is part of the emergency work, not a second trip. Getting the opening covered is what keeps a roof repair from turning into a whole interior repair.

How do I know you are not a storm chaser?

Ask for our insurance certificate and we will hand it to you. Florida does not issue a statewide tree service license, so proof of insurance and an ISA Certified Arborist on staff tell you more than a business card does. We are based in Venice, we have been at this 23 years, our trucks are lettered and our crew is in uniform. As a general rule, do not hand a large deposit to anyone who knocks on your door after a hurricane.

The tree is leaning but it has not fallen. Should I wait?

Get eyes on it now. A split trunk or a lifted root plate can let go in the next afternoon thunderstorm. Our arborist can tell you what has to come out and what can stay.

Do you work outside Sarasota, Charlotte and Manatee counties?

For storm work, yes. Our crews travel self sufficient with trailers, generators and fuel. We have worked Hurricanes Charley, Matthew, Florence, Irma, Michael, Sally and Ida.

The Blackburn Point bridge is closed. Can you still get to my Casey Key house?

We stage the crew and equipment on the mainland side and cross as soon as the bridge is open. If the Albee Road bridge in Nokomis opens first we come at the key from the south instead. Either way you are on the list and we are not waiting until Monday to start.

Will my insurance cover the removal?

That depends on your policy and on what the tree landed on. Our team has taken insurance billing courses, so we photograph and document the damage before we move anything and give you paperwork your adjuster can actually use. We cannot promise what a carrier will pay.

Do you charge extra for a call at 2am?

We are open 24 hours and we answer storm calls at any hour. The estimate is still free and still has no obligation attached to it. Text 941-445-3027 with a photo if you can safely take one and we will tell you what we are dealing with.
