Sarasota and Charlotte Counties

Englewood, FL

Englewood sits right on the Sarasota and Charlotte county line, and that line runs through the middle of a lot of driveways. It changes how a tree job gets permitted. A property off Dearborn Street answers to one set of county rules. A property a few minutes south toward Grove City answers to another. We work both sides of it, so we check the parcel before we quote instead of after.

The coast creates its own problems. Australian pine and Brazilian pepper have taken over fence lines and back lots from Manasota Key across to Ainger Creek, and both come back fast if you only cut the tops. Salt wind thins canopies out. Sandy soil gives roots less to hold. Plenty of homes here sit empty half the year while the growth keeps going.

Adam Pablo owns the company and answers for the work. There is an ISA Certified Arborist on staff, the crews carry workers compensation and general liability, and every estimate is free with no obligation. Text 941-445-3027.

What we run into on Englewood properties

Two counties, two rule books. Sarasota County does not require a permit to trim or prune on private property, but most removals in the unincorporated county do need one. Charlotte County generally wants a permit once a tree reaches 4 inches in diameter, and palms count once they carry 6 feet or more of clear trunk. Charlotte County also will not allow a lot to be cleared completely unless a building permit is tied to it. Neighbors on the same street can get different answers.

The other pattern is invasives. On the Sarasota County side, Brazilian pepper, Australian pine, melaleuca, carrotwood, chinaberry and Chinese tallow are all named exemptions from the tree removal permit, and so is anything else on the state invasive plant council Category I list. That covers most of what has swallowed the older lots near the water, which usually makes an overgrown Englewood parcel simpler than the owner expects.

  • Sarasota and Charlotte parcels checked before we price the job
  • Australian pine and Brazilian pepper clearing along coastal fence lines
  • Canal lot access in Englewood Isles and around Lemon Bay
  • Manasota Key jobs planned around the bridges and narrow driveways
  • Storm damage response 24 hours a day, including seasonal owners who are out of state
  • Uniformed crew, lettered trucks, site cleaned up before we leave

Local Questions

Englewood Questions

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Englewood?

It depends which county your lot falls in, and Englewood straddles both. Charlotte County generally requires a permit for trees 4 inches in diameter or larger and for palms with 6 feet or more of clear trunk. Sarasota County requires one for most removals in the unincorporated county, though not for routine trimming on private property. We pull up the parcel before we give you a price.

Can Australian pine and Brazilian pepper come out without a permit?

On the Sarasota County side those two sit on the exempt list, along with melaleuca, carrotwood, chinaberry and Chinese tallow. That matters here because the coastal lots are full of them. We still confirm the parcel and identify the species on site before anything comes down.

Do you work on Manasota Key?

Yes. Access is the thing to plan for. Everything crosses either the Tom Adams Bridge or the Manasota Beach Road bridge, the lots are narrow, and there is almost no room to stage equipment along Beach Road. We match the machine to the driveway instead of showing up with something that will not fit.

I am only in Englewood part of the year. Can the work happen while I am gone?

That is normal around here. We can send photos before and after so you can see exactly what was done, and the site gets cleaned up before the crew leaves so nobody has to come behind us. A large portion of our work is the same owners calling back year after year.
