Large live oak spreading over a screened pool enclosure on an estate lot in Venice, Florida
Sarasota County

Venice, FL

Venice is home. ACI has run out of this area for 23 years, so our trucks are usually a few minutes away instead of a few counties away. That matters most on the east side of town, out around Venice Acres and the estate lots off Jacaranda Boulevard, where an acre or more of ground and decades of oak growth turn a simple trim into a full day of work.

Most Venice properties we visit have real trees on them. Live oaks stretched out over a roofline, laurel oaks that grew fast and hollowed out at the union, sabal palms and slash pines that were standing before the subdivision was platted. On a one acre lot a day of crew time is normal. Two or three days is common once removal, trimming and cleanup are added up. We quote the whole job, not the optimistic version of it.

Off the island the work shifts to water, and Venice drains two different directions. North of Venice Avenue the ponds and ditches feed Curry Creek and Hatchett Creek and finish in Roberts Bay. South through Venice Gardens and South Venice the water runs the other way, down Alligator Creek into the Lemon Bay watershed. Either way what we get called for is the same list. Banks that keep sliding, ditches filling in, preserve edges going to Brazilian pepper. We handle that side too. Free estimates, no obligation, and someone answers around the clock.

What Venice Properties Actually Need

Venice is really three different jobs wearing one name. There is the island and the older streets around downtown, where lots are tight, the trees are mature and everything has to come down in pieces over a roof or a pool cage. There is the acreage east of Jacaranda Boulevard, where the trees are bigger, the lots are an acre or more and the crew plans in days. Then there is everything platted around water, which is most of the rest of it.

That last one surprises people. Chestnut Creek covers over 250 acres with 20 lakes and an island bird rookery inside it. The Venice Golf and Country Club sits on roughly 460 acres with 26 lakes and 13 preserve tracts. Venice Gardens was laid out around a chain of interior lakes and canals, and Pinebrook South has two lakes of its own and a fishing pier on Curry Creek. If you sit on an HOA board here, the trees are only half of your problem. The bank, the ditch and the preserve edge are the other half.

  • Storm response, 24 hours a day, with self sufficient crews

Local Questions

Venice Questions

Do I need a permit to take a tree down in Venice?

It depends on where the property sits and what the tree is. The City of Venice runs its own tree code, so a removal inside the city limits is not judged the same way as one outside them. On top of that, plenty of mail addressed to Venice is not in the city at all. Venice Gardens and South Venice are unincorporated Sarasota County and fall under county rules instead. We have an ISA Certified Arborist on staff who checks which set applies to your address before anything gets cut, and where a permit is needed we handle the process. Text a photo and the address and we will tell you where you stand.

How long does a typical Venice tree job take?

Longer than most people guess. The estate sized lots here are an acre or more and usually have several large mature trees on them, often with limbs over the house. A property like that is normally a full day for the crew between the trimming, the removals and the cleanup. Two or three days is common when nothing has been touched for a few years. We would rather tell you that up front than show up with half a crew and a half day booked.

Do you work outside the Venice city limits?

Yes. We cover the whole 34285, 34292 and 34293 area and everything around it, which includes South Venice, Venice Gardens, the Jacaranda corridor and the acreage running east toward the Myakka River. Sarasota, Charlotte and Manatee Counties are all standard service area for us. For storm work we travel a lot further than that.

What happens to the wood and the mess?

It leaves with us. The crew shows up in uniform in clean lettered trucks and the property gets cleaned up before we pull out. On land clearing and mulching work the material usually stays on site as mulch instead of being hauled, which is part of why that method is cheaper than clearing and trucking everything off.
