Osprey is a small stretch of unincorporated Sarasota County squeezed between Sarasota and Nokomis, and most of it sits under trees. Live oaks close over the older streets off Bay Street and Old Venice Road. Sabal palms and slash pines fill in behind them, and the 1,380 acres of pine flatwoods and scrubby oak inside Oscar Scherer State Park keep the whole area feeling wooded. That canopy is why people buy here. It is also why tree work in Osprey takes more planning than it does on an open lot.
We have run this part of the county for more than 20 years. Our crews can tell the difference between an oak that needs a light structural prune and one that somebody topped years ago and now has to be corrected or taken out. An ISA Certified Arborist is on staff, so you get a real answer on whether a tree can be saved before anyone starts a saw.

Get a Free EstimateOsprey splits into two kinds of lot. On the water you have Southbay Yacht & Racquet Club at the end of Bay Street, the properties either side of the swing bridge on Blackburn Point Road, and the canal homes at the north end of Sorrento Shores that carry an Osprey address. Salt wind off the Intracoastal has been shaping those trees for decades and the ground under them is sand. Inland you have the wooded communities like Rivendell, Willowbend, Park Trace Estates and The Oaks, where mature oaks and pines were left standing when the houses went in and have since grown into the rooflines.
Access is the other half of the job here. Casey Key is reached over the one lane swing bridge at Blackburn Point or around through Nokomis on Albee Road, and neither route forgives a careless equipment plan. For the gated communities we send the association office a certificate of insurance before the crew arrives. Trucks are lettered, crews are in uniform, and the site gets raked and blown clean before we pull out.

Emergency Tree Work in Osprey →Osprey is unincorporated, so Sarasota County rules apply instead of a city code. Removing a protected tree generally needs a county permit first, while routine trimming on your own property generally does not. We look at the tree against the county rules before we quote it and tell you what the process is going to involve.
Yes. The north way in is the one lane swing bridge on Blackburn Point Road and the south way is the Albee Road bridge over in Nokomis. We pick the route and size the truck and chipper to the job before the day of work, rather than finding out at the bridge.
We will. Our work stops at your property line. If something on the park side is leaning toward your house we will point it out and tell you what we see, but we do not cut past the boundary.
