West of Beneva the older neighborhoods sit under a live oak and laurel oak canopy that is older than most of the houses under it. Two very different kinds of work share one city. Inside the older grid, through Arlington Park, Southgate, Gulf Gate and the streets around Laurel Park, the trees are half the reason people paid for the house. A lot of the laurel oaks that went in with those neighborhoods are now at the end of a normal life and are failing from the inside while the crown still looks fine from the driveway. Live oaks on the same block are far more decay resistant and, pruned properly, will outlast them by a long way. East of I-75 the picture flips. Out along Fruitville Road and across the acreage in 34240, the problem is not one oak, it is five acres of palmetto, wax myrtle and Brazilian pepper nobody has touched in years. Inland, through Palmer Ranch and the golf communities, it is pond banks cutting back toward a cart path and preserve areas the association is required to keep clear. The older grid between Fruitville Road and Clark Road drains into Phillippi Creek, which starts out near Fruitville and runs down through Southgate and Pinecraft to Roberts Bay, which is why the ditch behind the property matters more here than people think.

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Sarasota?
It depends which side of the city limit your address sits on, and the two answers are genuinely different. Inside the City of Sarasota a permit is required to remove a protected tree, and a live oak or sand live oak at 24 inches diameter at breast height can be a grand tree, which the city will not let you remove at all unless it grants a specific exemption. In unincorporated Sarasota County the rules sit in Chapter 54, and owner occupied residential lots of five acres or less are exempt once a certificate of occupancy has been issued, with grand trees, conservation and preservation areas, canopy road zones and teardown rebuilds all carved back out of that exemption. Routine pruning on a private lot is usually a separate matter again. We check your tree against the rules that actually cover your address before we quote it.
Do you work with HOA boards and property managers here?
Constantly. A large portion of our work is multi year repeat business with associations and districts. We send a certificate of insurance to the management office before the crew shows up, we price pond bank work by the linear foot so a board can put it in a budget, and Adam will come to a board or committee meeting in person to walk through the scope.
How far east of I-75 do you go?
All the way out. We work the Fruitville Road corridor and the acreage in 34240 regularly. Land clearing out there is generally never more than two weeks out, and we never take money up front on land clearing. You pay when the work is finished.

We answer 24 hours a day and we do not leave when the power does.
